I am pleased to welcome you to the official website of the General Consulate of the State of Qatar in Barcelona, where we seek to be a point of contact between the Consulate and Qatari citizens who are present or coming to the territories that fall within our jurisdiction. Relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Spain began in 1972, but they took the actual form of development that they are now after the opening of Qatar's first embassy in Madrid in 1981, where they began to develop at a rapid and regular pace. The Consulate General of Barcelona was inaugurated in 2018 and covers the territory of Catalonia, Valencia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands. The role of diplomatic representation in the consolidation of relations between the two countries has become of great importance and was reflected in the most recent visit of His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani "may God preserve him" to Madrid, during which several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries in various fields.
